In recent news, research points to the likely fact that wind farms are an unintentional contributing factor to global warming, “’Large wind-farms can increase local night time temperatures by fanning warmer air onto the ground, new research has revealed.

The study used satellite data to show that the building of huge wind farms in west Texas over the last decade has warmed the nights by up to 0.72C.” “After the sun has set, the land cools down more quickly than the air, leaving a cold blanket of air just above the ground. But the turbine wakes mix this cold layer with the warmer air above, raising the temperature.” (Source: Forbes and The Guardian)

Although the data indicating that the very wind-farms intended to decrease global warming actually may be causing it may be amusing, scientists are quick to point out that these results are based on local studies only, focusing on small regions, so it is not pertinent to draw any broad or larger picture conclusions. Additionally, the energy dissipation within this area does not affect or change the basic energy balance of the planet; hence, this simply translates into a shift of forces within a given radius and does not affect the system as a whole.

When studying any given phenomenon, drawing assumptions regarding a “cause and effect” scenario or trying to understand the impact of an event within specific boundaries, we mustn’t forget that Nature always operates as a unified balance and its laws are those of a closed system. We, as human beings, easily deceive ourselves thinking that we are “winning” somewhere or achieving progress in a certain area or field, yet we often forget that at the same time, we are “losing” elsewhere or harming other parts of our environment. Somehow, we seem to fail to consider the big picture.

This applies to every area of our lives, be it in business, economy, society, or the environment. We should always strive to look at any given circumstance through the lens of the entirety of Nature and to act accordingly, as we are a part of this system and cannot fool Nature. Hence, our actions will always have either a positive effect or a negative effect on the whole.

Just as with our human body, where every cell works harmoniously in order to benefit the entire organism, we must change our inner drive, actions, and desires toward achieving a mutually beneficial relationship among each other and with our surrounding environment. Our egoistic human nature is clearly the root cause of everything that’s wrong with our society and our natural environment. Our careless self-interested actions are disrupting all parts of the system, which present themselves to us as a multi-faceted crisis in our globalized world.

Consequently, we must promptly realize the critical situation we are in. Only through education toward integral thinking and worldview can we fix what is broken. First and foremost, we need to learn to see the world as one closed system in which we all need to act in harmony with the whole, as we are all parts of it. Only after we have successfully changed our inner perception of our environment and the effects our actions have on the integral system, as well as on others, we will naturally know the right actions we need to take in order to tackle such seemingly insurmountable challenges as global warming and the economic crisis.

In recent news, research points to the likely fact that wind farms are an unintentional contributing factor to global warming, “’Large wind-farms can increase local night time temperatures by fanning warmer air onto the ground, new research has revealed.

[14
