Since we have been producing far more than we actually need, growing unemployment is inevitable in the coming years. Nothing can be more harmful to society than millions of educated people waking up every morning with nothing to do.

The International Labour Organization has warned of a “‘scarred’ generation of young workers facing a dangerous mix of high unemployment, increased inactivity and precarious work in developed countries, as well as persistently high working poverty in the developing world.

“The ‘Global Employment Trends for Youth: 2011 Update’ says the ‘bad luck of the generation entering the labour market in the years of the Great Recession brings not only current discomfort from unemployment, under-employment and the stress of social hazards associated with joblessness and prolonged inactivity, but also possible longer term consequences in terms of lower future wages and distrust of the political and economic system.’”

We are witnessing the same trends all over the world: escalating unemployment, increasing debt, hunger, poverty, crime, restlessness among youth, protests, violent riots in less developed countries, police brutality, overturning of regimes, and mafia-style vendettas against leaders.

When industry and services are reduced to the necessary level, millions of people will be freed from redundant jobs. As unlikely as it may seem, from this point forward we must produce only what is necessary for a normal existence, and distribute the work load among many people working 2-3 hours per day, rather than a minority working 8-12 hour days.

The Solution: Occupy People with Studies about the New Integral World

Our freed-up time has to be dedicated to studying the global world, the new integral society, to create social change that will positively impact all of humanity. Studies will teach individuals and society as a whole how to achieve the correct balance in our lives, and provide new insight about surviving in today’s challenging environment. Studying will enable participants to realize their fullest potential and apply their unique attributes to contribute to the whole of society in new ways.

From now on, a great deal of our free time must be dedicated to education, so we can all learn how to leverage the laws of the new integral world to our mutual benefit. Government funded courses will be considered as work because through these studies, the world will be able to approach sustainability and the revelation of our next stage of development in a good way.

These courses would be a requirement for applying for social security, with no exceptions. Various populations such as those receiving welfare, pensioners, the unemployed, and prisoners could be exposed to this educational information immediately. Additional target audiences would include government funded institutions, programs and anyone receiving a salary from the government: educators, emergency workers, police forces, military personnel, national, state, and municipal employees, etc.

We have to sit people down to study. They would be paid through unemployment benefits, which will be the most cost-effective strategy in the long-run. They would be taught about the kind of world we are living in, what is ahead, and what kind of challenge the universe is throwing at us. This is not someone’s whim or the interests of a certain party or government leader. It is Nature challenging us. And the challenge is for us to change. We needn’t change anything besides ourselves.

Major media groups would need to participate in this process by providing new television, Internet, and radio content in the form of educational programs and courses that everyone will have to keep current with. People will be required to take exams, just as they currently do to get a license. The bottom line is that the whole world must take their seats in the classroom. We must use all means of communication to teach people how to live in the new conditions. The sooner society begins to understand and implement these changes, the sooner we will begin to feel that we are living in a bountiful, safe, and comfortable world.

The new education method would consist of inculcating values of mutual concern. The public will be educated about the need to develop new types of relations between people through schools, media channels, the Internet, and advertising. The mainstream population would be brought to understand that relations between individuals in each country, and between countries, are already based on mutual dependence.

Our connections are so tight that we must develop concern for each other’s needs. In other words, we are already connected through irreversible ties, which is why we must adjust ourselves appropriately in every aspect of our lives. If each interest group only looks only after its own needs, the entire system will ultimately come crashing down.

Since we have been producing far more than we actually need, growing unemployment is inevitable in the coming years.
